In case if the damaged area is leaking, you must fill it with concrete epoxy ot hardening cement. While mixing cement for dry patches, you must prepare the mortar using two parts of sand and one part of cement. Make sure you add water slowly, so that the dough is consistent enough.
If you notice a new leak near the repair site, water may perhaps be backing against the existing foundation. On such instances, you must take more drastic steps to repair your basement.
With the help of the cold chisel, enlarge the hole. Cut the edges in such a way that the plug would not pop out loose. Mix the work and the plugging cement in a stopper-like shape. As soon as the mixture becomes stiff, fill it in the holes like cork and hold it in the place for a few minutes.    In case if you are filling up the cracks on a cement wall, then make sure that you moisten the cracks first. As soon as the mortar becomes hard, pack the entire crack completely. Remove any access mortar with the help of a putty knife or a wet trowel.
